Connect AWS

Connecting AWS is a one-time setup for your ScaleBop account. It creates a small CloudFormation stack in your account. After that, project deployments assume a short-lived role. ScaleBop never receives your AWS password or long-lived access keys.

You can start this from Account → Integrations, or from a project’s Connect AWS step.

  1. In ScaleBop, start the AWS connection and choose the region you want to deploy into.
  2. ScaleBop opens a CloudFormation quick-create link. Review the stack and create it.
  3. When the stack finishes, open Return to ScaleBop in the stack Outputs. That handshake is what marks the connection verified.

Leave the CloudFormation tab open until the stack reaches CREATE_COMPLETE. ScaleBop polls for the return while you do this.

The connection stays unverified until ScaleBop reads the stack outputs. Two ways to finish:

  • Open Return to ScaleBop from the stack Outputs again.
  • Use manual recovery and paste the CloudFormation stack ID (arn:aws:cloudformation:…). ScaleBop imports the role from that stack and verifies it.

Rotating the External ID invalidates the current setup link. Delete the existing connection stack, then open the new quick-create link and complete Return to ScaleBop again.

After the connection is verified, ScaleBop can set up GitHub OIDC for the account and the generated workflow can deploy into this account. The first deploy in a region also ensures CDK bootstrap exists.
